While traditionally designed for the dining room, sideboards offer a practical storage solution for any space, consisting of cupboards and drawers to house a wide assortment of items. A well-designed, functional sideboard is an essential piece of furniture, creating space for storing dinnerware, saving electrics and spare charging cables and stashing away chocolate. Whatever you need it for, we can design and custom make a sideboard to meet your requirements.
Size and storage
A bespoke sideboard can be made to measure to fit your space. It can be low and wide, narrow and tall or anything in between. It can even be scribed into an alcove with millimetre precision.
We’ll design the layout with your exact storage needs in mind and to fit exactly what you wish to keep in the cabinet. We can incorporate any combination of cupboards, drawers and shelves. Drawers can include divisions to fit your tableware and shelf adjustments can be at whatever increment you need. Choose from soft close or a traditional fit for your drawers, and from push-to-open mechanisms or conventional handles for your doors.
Top surface
Depending on how you want to use your sideboard, you may want to consider a material for the surface other than timber. If you’re planning to serve food from it, a stone top, such as granite or marble, might be most appropriate. We work with local stone companies so we can utilise stock or off cut slabs for worktops, rather than buying unnecessarily large standard size slabs at a premium. Just like when specifying for a kitchen, you can choose a variety of different edge details and thicknesses of stone. Of course, timber is also an excellent option, and we’ll discuss with you the most suitable finishes with which to protect it.
Lighting and sockets
More than ever, we have a need for easy access to electric sockets in every part of the home, whether for charging or connecting a range of devices from hot plates and air diffusers to mobiles and smart speakers. We can integrate and install sockets within cupboards or drawers, or even to pop-up from surfaces, to meet all your electronic demands. We can also integrate task or mood lighting into your custom sideboard to make it even more functional.
