Cabinet maker vacancy

We have a full-time position for a mid-level cabinet maker to join our skilled team. We make a combination of free-standing and fitted furniture to a high level of craftsmanship. The projects are often diverse and interesting requiring a broad set of skills and engineering competency. From cutting veneers in-house to sculpting and shaping solid timber through to standard carcase assembly for fully fitted joinery. We work with a mix of private clients and commercial clients across various design styles.

Projects over the past year have included:

  • Multiple solid timber nest of tables
  • Traditional solid oak workbenches for a high-end car manufacturer
  • Display cabinets for a high-end jewellery company
  • Multiple free standing dining tables both contemporary and traditional designs
  • Multiple desks featuring sculptural elements
  • Book-matched walnut veneered door panels and a shelving cabinet for a kitchen
  • Lounge chairs for a super yacht company
  • Veneered octagonal bedside tables
  • Multiple mirrors form our limited-edition portfolio
  • Multiple boxes form our limited-edition portfolio
  • A semi-fitted burr walnut sideboard

Techniques have included:

  • Curved and square cabinetry
  • Solid and veneered
  • Lacquered and oiled
  • Book-matching and starbursts
  • Through wedged tenons
  • Laminating components
  • Shaping solid components by machine and by hand
  • Batch production runs and one-off pieces
  • Free standing, partially fitted and fully fitted joinery
  • Metalwork patinating and basic finishing
  • Butt hinge, kitchen hinge, soft close runner installation
  • Smaller individual projects and larger team projects

Summary

  • Full-time, 40hr weeks typically starting at 8:30am-5pm.
  • Salary dependent on experience and bench test.
  • Smart Bonus Scheme offering up to 20% bonus on hours worked on commissioned pieces.
  • Time-off-in-lieu flexible working scheme.
  • 28days holiday p/a pro-rata, inclusive of bank holidays and Christmas shutdown period.
  • Start date, 2nd September 2024

Apprentice cabinet maker job vacancies

Every year we aim to employ a young apprentice as a workshop assistant to help with the smooth running of the workshop and supporting our senior cabinet makers in their daily manufacturing activities.

The part time position includes: cleaning & maintenance; sanding; oiling; helping cabinet makers with certain tasks; cutting up waste timber; producing small eco-products from waste hardwood; wrapping & despatch; and exhibition preparations.

We typically recruit for this position through the summer months in time for the new college year in September. We require applicants to have some basic woodworking experience including timber machining.
