Bespoke Interiors

Part of the furniture

For a space that fits you

A perfect room is a rare find. Awkward angles or dimensions often mean compromise. However, bespoke interiors and fitted furniture can transform the functionality of a room or particular area, decreasing clutter or improving the aesthetic to make it work for you. Our bespoke service helps optimise your space and storage, whether by seamlessly integrating furniture from wall-to-wall or floor-to-ceiling or by finally putting that small nook to good use – all the while adding a sense of effortless luxury.

No shelf too short, no wall too tall

From floating shelving either side of a fireplace through to a fully fitted dressing room, whatever the scale or size of your project, we have a reputation for crafting some of the finest fitted interiors for residential and commercial spaces. Creating a fully bespoke interior involves a few extra steps compared to our freestanding furniture to ensure the end result looks and functions how you want it to. Whatever the aesthetic, shape or size of the project, we guarantee the same high level of attention to detail and professional service throughout.

“After spotting Edward’s wonderful work at an exhibition we couldn’t wait to commission him to make our unusual bedroom concept furniture. Ed has been a delight to work with his eye for detail and extensive knowledge, skill and design flair has given us exactly what we dreamed of.”

Fitted Dressing Rooms

Everyone’s dressing routine and needs are unique, from how you organise your shirts and shoes to where you hang your mirror – or your dressing gown. We’ve made enough over the years to know what will look amazing and function perfectly to meet your particular daily needs. From entire walk-in dressing rooms to fitted wardrobes, each project we design and make prioritises function, enduring craftsmanship and luxury detailing.

Fitted Kitchens

How better to design the heart of the home than with skilled craftsmanship and the warmth of timber? We love pairing up our eye for design and detail with a space so closely associated with creativity and invention. Above all else, kitchens need to function and flow. We make this the top priority while ensuring your culinary space reflects your personal style and complements the rest of your interior.

Fitted Shelving & Bookcases

A life well lived is best enjoyed when it is also well organised. Whether your interests are reflected in the books you read or the ornaments you’ve collected and curated over the years, a sense of place and order will help ensure your continued enjoyment of the memories and feelings they evoke. We understand the dramatic difference a purpose-designed and fitted bookcase or shelving display can make. Whether you feel your space is cluttered, disorganised or dysfunctional, our tailor-made shelving will help make it more tidy, practical and pleasant.

How long does a bespoke interior project take?

Design

We typically allow 4-8 weeks for the design stage, though this can be longer depending on project complexity and time taken to align both parties’ diaries. It is crucial to allow sufficient time to establish the brief, create the design proposal and produce detailed drawings, samples and templates before manufacturing.

Manufacture

Manufacturing time is entirely dependent on the design, and can range from 2 to 16 weeks and beyond. We often work with other trades or specialist materials, which adds time.

Your space, your style: Our step-by-step guide

We don’t have a set, prescribed look. We work with you to create and develop a proposal that reflects your tastes and personality while meeting your functional requirements. By understanding how you want to use the space and how the furniture can support that, we can approach the design with both practicality and creative flair.

Edward has prepared a series of questions to make sure he fully understands your hopes for and expectations of the project. You don’t need to have all the answers. Edward can help iron out the details for any elements you’re unsure of.

With the brief complete, Edward starts putting together a design proposal with sketches which start to bring your vision into clearer focus. We charge a non-refundable deposit at this stage based on the size of the project for development time and to secure production time. Typically the deposit is based on the linear meter size of the installation:
• Up to 3 metres – £750
• For each additional meter allow £150-250 depending on specification

As we refine the design, we are also able to refine the costs. We will provide a cost estimate alongside the design proposal so you can consider these in tandem. We usually share these over email to give you time to think before discussing the proposal further in person or over the phone. With your feedback, we continue working on the design until you’re fully satisfied with it, at which point we will provide a fixed quotation for your approval.

Drawing board, drawing and book on desk

Next, we produce detailed production drawings, samples and, where required, templates for sign-off prior to starting manufacturing so you can be confident the space will look, feel and work how you envisage it.

While we can make free-standing furniture in isolation, fitted furniture often requires working closely with other trades, which we are accustomed to doing. Whether the furniture needs electrics or plumbing installed or decorating around, we are happy to liaise with other trades to make it work.

Before proceeding to the manufacturing process, we issue an invoice for the first payment instalment. The final instalment is always due at the end, on installation of the furniture.

After close collaboration with and feedback from yourself, we start the manufacturing process in our Bosham workshop and will keep you informed of progress throughout. You are always welcome to visit the workshop to see how it’s going. Please contact us to arrange an appointment.

Once we are confident every part of the project meets our exacting standards, we will arrange delivery and installation with you. Typically, Edward or the lead cabinet maker on the project will deliver and install your furniture. For small to medium installations, the makers who built the furniture in the workshop carry out the fitting service. Larger projects are installed by a dedicated fitting team who we know and trust to carry out the work to the same high standards we expect of ourselves.

Whether your furniture needs a small adjustment to a hinge or a more significant modification, Edward and the team are always on hand to discuss any aftercare needs and to arrange a prompt, appropriate solution.

Budgeting for bespoke interiors

Fixed Design – During the design stage, the price of a bespoke interior remains fluid until you’re satisfied with the design proposal. The proposal will be provided alongside a fixed quotation to ensure you are fully aware of the costs before moving forward with manufacturing.

Premium Quality – Our completely bespoke service means we can ensure high quality from design to installation, to suit your requirements and style. Getting it right takes time, so bespoke fitted furniture will always cost more than buying a standardised product of similar specification. If you want to get the most from your space without compromise, our bespoke service is ideal for you.

Master Craftsmanship – Our team of cabinet makers have won some of the highest accolades in the country for craftsmanship. You can expect the same exacting standards when they are making fitted furniture as when they make freestanding furniture.

Cost Sensitivity – Budget is a sensitive part of commissioning bespoke furniture. Edward is happy to work to his clients’ budgets. Throughout the design process, he will manage the complexity and specification of the project with the budget in mind, spending his time, and your money, on what matters most to you. He will always provide a fixed quotation with the final design so you can be sure of costs before proceeding.

Yes. Establishing a clear budget early on ensures everyone involved is realistic about the type of design that can be achieved and prevents us from over-specifying. Throughout the design stage, we’ll cost-manage the design as necessary by either increasing or decreasing the specification.

However, it sometimes happens that delivering on the design parameters is prioritised over the budget, with costing done after the design. If you prefer this organic, open-sided approach, then budget doesn’t need to be addressed at the start.

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit starting at £750 is required before we can start any design work*.

Instalment Plan One – Orders up to £10,000 including VAT: two instalments of 50% (minus deposit), before manufacturing and upon completion.

Instalment Plan Two – Orders over £10,000 including VAT: three instalments of 33% before manufacture (minus deposit), 33% during production and 34% upon completion .
