Ripples chest of drawers

The Ripples chest of drawers (12-drawer) won the Wood Awards in 2013 – The UK’s premier award for excellence in design in wood. Winning the bespoke furniture category, the judges (John Makepeace, Rod Wales, Katie Walker & Sean Sutcliffe) described the piece as ‘… an excellent mix of restraint and flamboyance; exuberant in design yet restrained in practice. It is timely that ash is used in a context of luxury to make such an extraordinary object.’

Originally inspired by the action of a stone dropping into water, Edward wanted to give the illusion of the subsequent concentric ripples engulfing the entire cabinet. Bringing movement and life to the entire piece, not just to one surface.
